The “two-night†technology refers to the water-saving, high-yield, and high-efficiency cultivation techniques that allow wheat and corn to fully develop the potential for yield increase by appropriately delaying the corn harvest period and the wheat sowing date in the two cropping areas of winter wheat and summer maize. The technology is simple and easy to implement, does not increase production costs, farmers can increase corn and wheat without increasing any input and labor intensity. The application of two nights of technology to achieve the following two points:
1. Delay the harvest of summer corn.
At present, the main varieties of summer corn that I promote are Zhengdan 958 and Yandan 20. The growth period of these cultivars ranges from 105 to 110 days and the filling period is from 50 to 52 days. If the harvest period is from October 5 to October 10 before and after June 20th, farmers are used to harvesting in late September. Corn has not yet fully matured, resulting in a reduction in production. Cornstarch accumulates for a short period of time and its quality declines.
2. Delay the sowing of winter wheat
In the sowing date, it is necessary to establish a technical idea that “late-sowing can produce high yields, and late-sowing can be beneficial to saving waterâ€. Sowing too early, easy to cause prosperous pre-winter and pests and weeds, frost damage occurs, the formation of strong seedlings before the winter, spring, the total number of stems and acres of acres to reduce, resulting in reduced production. After planting too late (after October 20), there is less water consumption before the winter, but the roots are difficult to lower and the heading period is postponed, which also causes a reduction in production. Therefore, it is necessary to grasp the appropriate sowing date. The best sowing time in our country is from October 7th to 13th. At the same time, the late-seeding wheat fields should be appropriately increased in the amount of sowing, with the basic number of seedlings to maintain panicles, the basic seedlings guaranteed at about 400,000, and the seeding rate should be controlled at about 15 kg. During the appropriate sowing date, sowing every night for 1 day, the sowing amount increased by 0.5 kg. In addition, fine soil preparation, seed selection, and even seeding should be done during sowing.
