This weekend marks the much-anticipated baby shower for my newest great-niece, a little ray of sunshine who has already stolen all our hearts. It's going to be such a special day, filled with joy, laughter, and of course, the tiny bundle of joy herself. We're planning a celebration that feels personal yet celebratory, with the baby being the star of the show!
As soon as we learned we're expecting a boy, the excitement was palpable. My partner and I immediately started brainstorming ideas for the nursery, trying to decide on colors and themes that would create a warm and welcoming space for our little one. That’s when I stumbled upon a picture of a sweet, sleeping baby nestled under soft orange and white blankets, adorned with stripes of blue, brown, and orange. It was love at first sight! This image became my inspiration board, and before I knew it, I was scrolling through online stores and jotting down ideas.
I’ve always loved the idea of a nursery inspired by nature, and imagine my delight when I discovered that giraffes are trending as a popular nursery theme! They’re playful, elegant, and bring a touch of whimsy to any room. I’ve been busy collecting pieces that reflect this theme, and I’m thrilled to share them with you. If you’re looking to create a similar space, here are some of my favorite finds:
**Bedding and Materials:**
The organic duvet cover from Pottery Barn that inspired the photo is now part of my collection. It’s even cuter in person than it looked online! For those on a budget, I’ve also fallen in love with the Serena & Lily bedding sets, but they’re slightly out of our price range. Instead, I’m working with a talented seamstress friend to craft custom bedding using this fabric. She’ll handle the sewing while I gather all the necessary materials.
**Wall Art:**
The Gerry Giraffe and Mary Monkey Wall Graphics are absolutely darling, and they’ll complement the Safari Block Elephant, Giraffe, and Rhino Decals beautifully.
**Pillows:**
From Dwell Studio, the Giraffe Pillow and the Gio Aqua Boudoir Pillow add just the right pop of color and texture.
**Plush Toys:**
Last summer, we picked up some quirky plush toys from IKEA for our daughter’s birthday party. They’re perfect for adding character to the nursery, especially the Barnslig series.
**Coin Bank:**
I can’t wait to place the sleek Giraffe Coin Bank in the corner of the room—it’s both functional and adorable.
**Prints:**
I’m considering creating something similar to the Giraffe Silhouette Print, but I’m also eyeing the Binth Alphabet Poster. It’s simple yet stylish, and I’d love to incorporate it into the decor.
**Wall Mobile:**
We’re planning to make our own version of the Oras Wall Mobile, combining modern design with our personal touch.
**Rocker:**
The Rock-A-Bye Rocker and Ottoman set from Babies-R-Us will be reused from our older child’s nursery. It’s comfortable and practical.
**Furniture:**
If I didn’t already have a white crib and changing table, I’d definitely want to get the Dwell Studio Silver Crib and Changing Table from Target. They’re stunning!
**Additional Decor:**
Finally, I’ll use the organic duvet cover from Pottery Barn to create extra pillows and blankets to scatter around the room.
I feel like we’re off to a fantastic start, and I can’t wait to see how everything comes together. Stay tuned for the full nursery reveal soon!
