Living a Miraculous Weekend

Over the past few days, my phone buzzed with a flurry of texts back and forth with a generous friend who had offered us free tickets to Legoland — a place we’d been eyeing for the kids but hadn’t yet justified the expense. I was caught in a mental tug-of-war: "Yes, we should definitely go!" followed by "No, the kids aren't feeling well." Then came the dreaded maybe. Friday morning started with tears before kindergarten and ended with more snot-soaked tissues that night. That sealed the deal; we couldn’t make it to Legoland. Instead of coasters and Legos, it’s been a weekend of recovery from the latest round of germs going around. Naps and essential oils became our best friends. You know, despite missing out on the amusement park, it was actually okay. I almost feel guilty saying that. This week, I’ve talked to friends who’ve faced unimaginable losses, and another who’s spent weeks in the hospital with her newborn, whose health has been a rollercoaster. My heart breaks for them, but we stand together, pray, and trust that God is always bigger. Instead of letting guilt settle in, I’m choosing to cherish every single moment, even the messy ones filled with tissues and steamy baths. Life reminds me often of its preciousness, and I have to pause and reflect. Sometimes the darkest moments highlight the sweetness of the good times we share as a family. “There are two ways to live your life: one as though nothing is a miracle, the other as though everything is. I choose the latter.” So go ahead, tell someone you love them, belt out a tune even if it’s off-key, and give an extra-tight hug. Life is a miracle. It’s been a while since I did a "10 Things" list of our favorite moments, so grab a seat and let me serve you some hot spiced cider. Let’s celebrate the start of autumn together — it’s too important not to! Meanwhile, I’ve got lists upon lists of home projects, decor ideas, and cleaning goals scribbled all over the house. My poor husband has started responding with, “I adore you, but no thank you” whenever I pitch another idea. So, instead of adding to the chaos, let’s focus on what we’ve been enjoying lately. --- **The Little Teacher** She bounds over to Brayden and chirps, “Are you ready for school?!” Before he can answer, she’s already scrawling the alphabet on paper, teaching him each letter as he mimics her. --- **House Guests** Amanda, our amazing babysitter and friend from Michigan, surprised the kids by flying down for Aliyah’s birthday week. We kept it a secret until she popped up in the airport terminal. Talk about excitement! --- **Birthday Morning Tradition** Every birthday begins with a candle-lit breakfast. The flames never last long, but the warmth does. --- **Low Tide** At the beach, low tide reveals hidden treasures in the sand. The gulf waters cool just enough to feel refreshing. --- **Craft Bombs** When September hits, my crafting spirit kicks into high gear. Birthday parties mean colorful chaos in our house. --- **Dusk** Watching the sun dip below the horizon, casting golden hues over the waves, feels surreal. Sometimes I pinch myself to remember this is real. --- Today is the start of the week. Go out there and find the miracles. You won’t regret it.
