My three-year-old has officially entered the "I want" phase. It's like a never-ending loop where every trip to the store results in a request for something new. "Mom, I don't have the *insert random toy here*!" is now a regular part of our daily conversation. My go-to response? "Add it to your Christmas list." While we're trying to teach him about patience and delayed gratification—usually by singing "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by the Rolling Stones—I've got my own mental Christmas list brewing.
As I mentioned in my previous post about finding Made in the USA gifts for moms, I'm determined to focus on quality, locally-made items this holiday season. If they're handmade, even better! Honestly, my kids don't really need much, but when grandparents or Santa start asking for suggestions, I love the idea of gifting them something that’s durable, well-made, and built to last.
Here are some of my favorite Made in the USA finds for kids. I've already dropped hints about these to the people in our lives who like to spoil them. :)
1// Bannor Toys' rattles, blocks, and teethers | 2// Rad and Happy's Modern Multi Triangle Quilt | 3// Opposite of Far’s Masks | 4// Salemtown Board Co’s Skateboards | 5// Tnees Tpees Charlie Teepee
Each of these brands offers incredible options, and all of their products are handmade. Bannor Toys has quickly become one of my favorites. There’s a high chance that Santa will be slipping one of their beautiful teethers into my son’s stocking this year. Plus, it’s a bonus knowing they’re based just a couple of hours from my hometown in Iowa. Rad and Happy’s quilts are stunning, especially the flannel and beard version that looks incredibly cozy. Opposite of Far has masks for everything imaginable—real animals, mythical creatures—you name it. My son adores his lion mask and enjoys roaring at us with his "mighty" voice. Salemtown Board Co. crafts skateboards that are works of art. They’re not only visually appealing but also seem like a blast to ride. Tnees Tpees offers teepees that perfectly blend with any child’s room decor. My personal pick is the Archi model with its navy stripes and anchors—it would match my son’s nautical-themed bedroom beautifully.
When shopping from these brands, you can expect exceptional customer service and top-notch craftsmanship. For instance, Salemtown Board Co. and Bannor Toys hand-sand and shape each piece of wood individually, ensuring no two items are alike. The founders I spoke with emphasized their dedication to quality and customer satisfaction. Jessica Near, the creator behind Opposite of Far, expressed her sentiment beautifully: “I view my customers as part of my extended family. I want them to feel proud to support Opposite of Far and always leave with a smile.â€
These are just a few of my favorite Made in the USA picks, but I was curious about what other makers would include on their own wish lists. The team at Salemtown Board Co. mentioned they’d love a dinner table from Holler Designs. Stacey from Bannor Toys raved about Little Hip Squeaks clothing, Candelles hand-poured soy candles, and Hello Lovely People’s watercolor portraits. Jessica from Opposite of Far swoons over Wolfe Pack products from Wolfe Brothers, Tumbleweeds Handcrafted Sunglasses, Tees by Kinship Goods, and dolls from My Dear Hazel. Some of these are already on my radar for future purchases!
So, what are YOUR favorite Made in the USA gifts for kids? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
