Unlike traditional tumor immunotherapy, Unum Bio combines tumor-specific antibodies with T-cell therapies to pinpoint cancer cells through multiple antibodies, allowing T cells to more specifically recognize and destroy cancer cells. Traditional tumor immunotherapy generally requires the recognition of specific antigens to play a role.
Another advantage of Unum's antibody-coupled T cell receptor therapy (ACTR) is its ability to treat a variety of tumors through the selection of different antibodies. On the other hand, unlike the pioneers of CAR-T therapy such as Novartis and Juno, another great advantage of Unum is that the antibodies used in the research have been fully studied, which will greatly accelerate the research progress of this therapy. After the financing, Unum plans to push the clinical phase I study through ACTR therapy, and is expected to obtain preliminary research data on patients in 2015.
