Diagnosis and control of chicken white cell worm disease

Chicken leukoplosis is a protozoal disease caused by parasites of the genus Plasmodium and living in the genus Leukocyte, which are parasitized in the blood cells of chickens and in the cells of visceral organs. Serious damage to laying hens and broiler chickens affects their growth and egg production performance. In severe cases, they can cause a large number of deaths, especially for young chickens, with a higher incidence and mortality. The occurrence of this disease has obvious seasonality, generally when the temperature is above 20°C, especially in June-August each year, which is the epidemic season of the disease.

1 Incidence

In mid-June 2005, 1500 five-month-old chickens reared by a farmer in the suburb of Nanyang suddenly died due to hemoptysis and dyspnea in varying degrees; some chickens had pale cocks, poor appetite, loose feathers, and motionlessness. With water-like white or green dilute feces.

2 clinical symptoms

Diseased chickens are depressed in spirit, loss of appetite or food refusal, chicken cocks are white, chicken body is thin, feathers are loose, and the ground is not moving; water-like white or green dilute feces are accompanied with fever symptoms; severe cases occur with hemoptysis, dyspnea, and death. Before lying on the ground, blood flow.

3 necropsy

The diseased chicken mainly showed systemic hemorrhage, hepatosplenomegaly, thin blood, chicken body weight loss, and white crown. Subcutaneous hemorrhage, especially the muscles of the chest, leg muscles, and myocardium, have bleeding spots of varying sizes; hemorrhage of the internal organs is most severe; kidneys and lungs are the most severe; organs of the pectoral muscle, leg muscle, heart muscle, liver and spleen are grayish or slightly From the yellow needle tip to the nodules with large miliary and clear borders with the surrounding tissues, many merozoites can be seen by smearing with small nodules smears.

4 Diagnosis and treatment

The blood and viscera smears of infected chickens were stained with Giemsa and observed under a microscope. It was found that the parasites were present in blood cells. According to clinical symptoms, pathological changes and blood smear microscopy, diagnosis of chicken leukoplakia. It is recommended to take the following preventive measures.

4.1 The diseased chickens were treated with 100 mg/kg of Teijin net for 10 to 14 days.

4.2 The diseased chickens were isolated and reared, and chickens without symptoms were treated with Teixiujing 35mg/kg spices for 5 days, and 2 days of treatment was used as a course of treatment.

4.3 Put wormwood around the house and suffocate smoke to drive out the storehouse. The farmer took the above-mentioned control measures and stopped the death 3 days after the medication. After 5 days of treatment, the condition was controlled and the chickens gradually returned to normal after 10 days.
5 Discussion

According to the epidemiological characteristics of living leukocyte protozoa, its transmission vectors are crickets and cockroaches. A large number of cockroaches are observed inside and outside the house, which is also an important reason for the spread of the disease. In order to reduce the incidence of this disease, it can be prevented from the following aspects.

5.1 The house is built in a dry, sunny and ventilated place away from places where maggots such as garbage dumps, ponds, gutters, and grass slopes are breeding.

5.2 Seal the doors, windows, fans and vents of the house with 100-mesh screens to prevent entry of maggots.

5.3 In the season when the library is infested, the leaves and stuffy tobacco are piled around the house so that the library can't inhabit.

5.4 During the epidemic season, 0.1% enemy-killed spray is applied to the environment of the house, once every 3 to 5 days.

5.5 live white cell worms in the body of the body in the form of schizont overwintering, so the diseased chickens should be eliminated.

5.6 Before the arrival of the epidemic season, prevent the use of chlorfenadin, and add electrolytic multidimensional, vitamin C, etc. to the material to improve the body resistance.
