Several parameters of a successful fermentation bed?

What Are the Key Parameters for a Successful Fermentation Bed?
A well-designed fermentation bed can achieve zero emissions, making it an eco-friendly and sustainable solution for farmers. It not only reduces labor but also increases profitability. However, to ensure its success, there are several important parameters that must be understood and properly managed.
Bacteria: The type and quality of bacteria used in the fermentation bed play a crucial role. Different bacterial strains from various sources have varying functions and compositions. Some are single-purpose bacteria, like just yeast or actinomycetes, while others are multi-functional blends with strong overall performance. Some are self-cultivated without specific purification or rejuvenation, which can result in weak or unstable effects. To choose the right product, check the specifications, consult the manufacturer or technical experts, and consider testing on a small scale first. Jinbao microbial fermentation additives, for example, are a natural compound bacterial blend developed domestically. They include bacteria, filamentous fungi, yeast, and actinomycetes—beneficial microorganisms that integrate international strains from the US, Japan, and South Korea. Through strict selection, purification, and rejuvenation, these microbes provide strong oxygen-based decomposition and odor control, effectively breaking down waste and improving the environment.
Moisture levels are another critical factor. The ideal moisture content is around 65%, but in a working fermentation bed, especially one used for pigs, urine can significantly affect the moisture level over time. If the moisture isn't adequate, the functional bacteria may become dormant. With the Goldfish fermentation bed system, no additional water is needed, as it's designed to manage moisture naturally.
When it comes to bedding material, sawdust is generally the best choice. If straw is not available, it can be used in combination with sawdust. For the Goldfish fermentation bed, a total thickness of 50 cm is recommended, with 20 cm of straw and the top layer made of dry sawdust. Using properly dried sawdust ensures better performance and longevity of the fermentation process.
