Dealing with rot in fruit trees is mainly based on "defense"

Fruit tree rot is an important disease on fruit trees in northern China. It is also a disease that has caused headaches for many growers. The disease can cause fruit trees to weaken, branches to die, dead trees, and even destroy the garden. It is common in North China, Northeast China and Northwest China. The rot bacterium is a weak parasitic bacterium, and all factors that can cause weakening of the tree vigor can cause the disease to occur. Among them, injuring the fruit tree through various wounds such as cutting and sawing on the tree body is a violation of the bacterium. Fruit trees are an extremely important way.

How to prevent and treat the disease correctly? In response, the reporter interviewed Ma Zhifeng, a professor of the Yangling Vocational and Technical College. He pointed out that in the process of guiding production at the grassroots level, he often found that many fruit growers have a lot of misunderstandings in the actual management of the disease. "Treatise" is the key point, and it takes the form of repairing the dead, but it pays little attention to "defense" when it is not diseased. In response to this management practice, Ma Zhifeng said that this approach not only caused unnecessary waste of planter's human and financial resources, but also caused great damage to the tree. He reminded the broad masses of farmers that during the growth of fruit trees, the "defence" against rot disease should be taken into account as an important task in fruit tree management. In the process of “defense,” starting from the point that rot disease invades trees from wounds, Ma Zhifeng said that after a team of experts found that closed wounds are the most feasible, scientific, and effective method, they can be taken. The tree was closed with a bituminous paint applied to the wound. Asphalt lacquer is produced by mixing and stirring soybean oil, rapeseed oil or waste diesel oil after the asphalt is baked and melted.

Ma Zhifeng told reporters that in actual production, some fruit growers applied pre-anticorrosive rot to paint the trees. This method, like the principle of smearing asphalt paint, uses closed wounds to block pathogens from infecting trees, but both In contrast, the application of asphalt paint to close wounds is even more effective in preventing fruit rot. There are two reasons. One is that asphalt paint has a longer period of protection against the wounds of fruit trees than ordinary paint. Second, because bitumen tends to soften as the temperature rises, the branches will grow thicker year after year. The strong stretchability of asphalt well meets the space requirements of the trunk during growth. In contrast, ordinary paint, once air-dried, is relatively strong, and it is easy to stretch the trunk when it grows thicker, often allowing the fruit growers to rework and re-brush, which consumes human and financial resources.
