Today (December 10) at the "Artificial Intelligence Assisted Precision Medical Summit Forum" held in Shanghai, Fosun Pharma and the US Intuitive Medical Devices Corporation jointly announced the official launch of their strategic cooperation in China. The two sides will jointly invest 100 million US dollars to establish a joint venture in Shanghai. It develops, manufactures and markets innovative products based on robot-assisted catheter technology for the early diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.

The joint venture company will develop the tools of “Made in China, Joint R&D, Global Sales” to develop more convenient, efficient and comfortable tools for lung cancer diagnosis and treatment in China and the world. Initial product development will focus on the early diagnosis of lung cancer, followed by an effective treatment for early stage lung cancer.

According to reports, the new products have core advantages compared to conventional screening methods on the existing market. At present, the commonly used cost-effective screening methods are mainly X-ray and CT. The overall missed diagnosis rate of X-ray is high and the blind area is large. Although CT can effectively improve the resolution and reduce the rate of missed diagnosis, the overall false positive rate is high, and Early central lung cancer is difficult to find. The new product will use the natural airway to enter the lungs, combined with advanced technology such as the CT image planning system for diagnosis and minimally invasive surgery, so that it can be effectively diagnosed or even cured in the early stage. At present, lung cancer is the leading cancer disease in China. Worldwide, lung cancer is also considered to be the most deadly cancer disease. Therefore, it is important to achieve early detection and treatment.
