1. Early drying and moisture control are crucial for seed preservation. The ideal time to dry seeds is between early March and late April. If the seed stock is large, you can start airing them out in advance based on the weather conditions. During the drying process, if the moisture level hasn't reached the storage standard, it's recommended to turn the seeds three or four times a day. On hotter days, increasing the frequency of turning helps accelerate the drying process. The temperature of stored seeds should not exceed 10°C to ensure they remain safe through the summer months.

2. Proper seed storage is essential for maintaining quality. Place 3 to 5 thermometers in different areas of the storage space—covering upper, middle, lower, left, and right positions—and include 1 or 2 hygrometers in the corners. Monitoring begins in April and ends in October. In July and September, check daily, and every other day during other months. Water content and germination potential should be tested every two weeks. To prevent insect infestations, aluminum-sealed storage should be done twice a year. Fumigation is carried out before June 10th and August 10th, lasting about 5 to 7 days each time. In mid to late July, a single pouring is done to avoid over-pressurization. Poor ventilation can reduce the germination rate, so if temperatures rise too high, a blower should be used for air circulation.

3. When placing inventory seeds, ensure the base of the storage area is raised 35 to 40 cm off the ground. Stack the sacks up to 10 layers high, with 1 to 1.5 meters between stacks for proper airflow and walkways. Different seed varieties must not be mixed, and each batch should have clear labels indicating quantity and details. The floor of the storage room should stay at least 40 cm above the ground, using mats for insulation. Each pile should not contain more than 10 sacks. When sealing, use two layers of mats. Place three layers on top and one in the middle, along with plastic sheets to protect against rain and moisture.

By following these practices, seed quality can be maintained effectively, ensuring optimal performance when planted. Regular monitoring and careful handling are key to long-term seed viability and successful crop production.
