The head of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced on the 15th that the national reserve of 13 million antiviral medication units has been successfully completed 18 days ahead of schedule. This achievement marks a significant step in strengthening the country's preparedness for potential influenza outbreaks.
According to the official, by September 12, China Medical & Health Products Co., Ltd., the central pharmaceutical reserve operator, had received 12.5 million oseltamivir phosphate capsules from Yichang Changjiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Combined with the existing stock of 500,000 units, the target of building up a 13-million-unit reserve—originally set for October 1—was achieved well in advance.
This early completion is expected to play a crucial role in the nation’s efforts to combat the spread of H1N1 influenza, ensuring timely access to essential medicines for affected populations. The accelerated delivery reflects the government’s proactive approach in managing public health emergencies and enhancing the resilience of the healthcare system. With this reserve in place, authorities are better equipped to respond swiftly and effectively to any potential outbreak.
