New Green Tree - Rong Guojun and Jin Yangliu

Rong Guojun, also known as Cui Shengguo, and Jinyang Liu, also referred to as Jinliu, are two remarkable tree species developed by Ma Tingting from the Liangshan County Institute of Science, Technology, and Agriculture in Shandong Province. Rong Guojun was cultivated in 2002 and is a strain that inherited the strong resistance and wide adaptability of the original Chinese willow, while significantly improving its growth rate and foliage density. It has been officially recognized by expert panels and is considered an outstanding choice for urban landscaping and walkways. Jinyang Liu, on the other hand, was discovered by Ma Tingting and Li Xinrong in the Jinsi nursery in 2002. This variety represents a golden variant of the weeping willow, with drooping branches that create a graceful and elegant appearance. Unlike traditional weeping willows, it stands tall and strong, exuding a bold and masculine presence that catches the eye and evokes a sense of confidence and resilience. Both species are fast-growing, long-lived, and highly effective in environmental protection. They absorb pollutants, purify the air, and have strong resistance to diseases and pests. They are also frost-resistant and can be planted across most regions of China. Rong Guojun features a well-developed root system, which helps it anchor firmly in the soil, resist wind and sand, and maintain lush green foliage throughout the year. It flowers in July, producing clusters of silver-white blossoms that attract bees and butterflies, making it both beautiful and ecologically valuable. The tree is not only visually appealing but also economically beneficial, with high-quality wood suitable for various applications such as papermaking and plywood production. It grows rapidly—up to 2 meters in the first year and 4 meters in the second—with a potential height of up to 10 meters. Jinyang Liu is a deciduous tree with a straight, tall trunk and a graceful, flowing appearance. It has strong sprouting power, making it easy to propagate through cuttings. Once seedlings reach a height of 3 to 5 meters, they grow quickly and remain healthy. Its thick, long leaves make it ideal for vegetative propagation, reducing the need for large-scale planting. It is an environmentally friendly option that can thrive even in waterlogged conditions, surviving for up to six months without drainage due to its deep root system and drought tolerance. Although both Rong Guojun and Jinyang Liu exhibit salt tolerance, they perform best in fertile soil. With proper watering and fertilization, they grow faster and healthier, making them excellent choices for urban greening projects, ecological restoration, and sustainable forestry.
