New breakthroughs in breeding of hybrid crickets

A few days ago, the National Agriculture Industry Special Subproject “Biological breeding of hybrids”, which was undertaken by the Pearl River Institute of the Chinese Academy of Water Resources, made new breakthroughs and successfully cultivated a super hybrid cricket, the pupa.

Based on the analysis and breeding of dominant traits of different populations in China, the project uses the intraspecific hybridization method to concentrate the advantages of different groups as the basic group. By means of ecological regulation and hormone ripening methods, the parents were intensified to solve the problem of unsynchronized gonadal development between the two parents, and a super-hybrid quail, U. pallens, whose growth rate was greatly improved was obtained. The appearance of the fish is similar to that of the black baboon in terms of body surface markings and quantifiable traits, and it is more likely to be spotted in countable traits. Compared with the hybrid quail which is currently cultivated in another combination, the individuals of the pupa are more uniform and the gonad development is slower. The results of the aquaculture test showed that the average body weight of the 4-day-old U. pallens cultured on the 82nd day was 0.41 kg; the average body weight on the 210-day breeding period was 1.16 kg, and the maximum individuals reached 2.3 kg and the mu yield was 6713 kg. Compared with other hybrids, U. pumila has a lower feed coefficient, a significant increase in growth rate and unit yield, and has a large area of promotion potential.
