Can fruits and vegetables fight breast cancer?

Recent studies have shown that while eating fruits and vegetables is certainly not harmful to health, it does not have much effect on reducing or avoiding the risk of breast cancer.

In a study published today in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Harvard investigator Dr. Stephanie A. Smith-Warner noted that although some clinical treatment studies have reported that eating more fruits and vegetables can reduce the risk of breast cancer by more than 25% However, her research team's work has proved that this effect of fruits and vegetables can only reduce the risk of breast cancer by 3 to 9%.

She also cautioned that this does not mean that women are not encouraged to eat more fruits and vegetables in order to maintain their health, because such foods, especially green leafy vegetables, can effectively reduce the risk of women suffering from other cancers and cardiovascular diseases. However, doctors or related experts should also tell patients in a timely manner that many ways to effectively prevent breast cancer are not only through food.
